Fair Trade Certified
When a brand’s products are Fair Trade certified, this means that their products meet certain social, environmental, and economic standards. This includes having safe working conditions, investing in the environment, having sustainable livelihoods for workers, and community development funds.

B Corporations are businesses that are certified by B Lab, a non-profit organization that certifies businesses for meeting the highest standards of social and environmental performance, as well as public transparency and legal accountability. Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)
The Global Organic Textile Standard is an international standard for processing, manufacturing, packaging and shipping organic textiles. GOTS certified products must be ethically sourced and must be made up of at least 95% certified organic material. If a product is made up of at least 70% organic fibers then it will be labeled “made with organic.” GOTS certified products are closely monitored and assessed throughout the entire manufacturing product to ensure they are socially and environmentally conscious and sustainable.

FSC Certified Packaging
Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Certified aims to ensure businesses are using responsible practices to protect the world’s forests and their biodiversity. FSC Certified products are those whose packaging materials use ethically sourced paper at every step of the supply chain. This means using paper only from forests whose use is specifically intended for production in order to eliminate deforestation of undesignated lands.

Other Sustainability Features
BPA-Free
Products that are BPA-Free do not contain Bisphenol-A, a toxic chemical commonly found in plastic. BPA has been linked to causing reproductive, immunity, and neurological problems in humans and also disrupts endocrine systems in aquatic wildlife.
Paraben-Free
Products that are paraben-free do not contain parabens, which are chemicals commonly found in cosmetic and body care products that can disrupt hormone and reproductive functions. Parabens have been linked to breast cancer and fertility issues.
Phosphate-Free
Products that are phosphate-free do not contain phosphate, which has been linked to heart disease, decreased bone density, kidney issues, and other various health problems. Phosphate can also cause eutrophication, which harms plant and animal health by decreasing levels of dissolved oxygen in aquatic environments.
Biodegradable
Products and packaging that are biodegradable means that they will completely break down and decompose into natural elements within a year of being disposed of. Biodegradable products and packaging result in less environmental degradation and waste, as the materials used to manufacture them are harmless, nontoxic, and will return to the earth to be reused.
